Yesterday the outcome of the regional rock idol competition was announced. A panel of judges reviewed the entries. It was an extremely close competition but after much scratching of chins, the eventual winning band was SamAsh Hits. Congratulations to them.

Thanks to all the bands that entered the competition and commiserations to those bands that were not successful this year, I can honestly say it was a very close call. SamAsh Hits will now go on to compete in the National Final that will take place on the 30th November and be streamed live on the internet as well as broadcast live on a BBC big screen in the centre of Birmingham.

The judges for the final are: ? Ken Bearman (Bass player with The Love Commandoes) ? Geoff Turrell (Chair of Rock Idol committee and Director of Athena Education Action Zone) ? David Barnard ( MD of Roland Music) ? We also have a head of Music from a large secondary school in Birmingham tbc ? A member of last year's winning band 'Silver Penny' We would like to wish SamAsh hits all the best for the final and I'm sure everybody will be supporting them. If you missed out on the opportunity to enter the competition this year, E2BN will be taking part again next year and we plan to extend the competition to allow novice entries in a special category as well as providing a band blog and many other facilities. So watch this space!
