Last opportunity for Infomapper discount

The opportunity to purchase Infomapper licences at a fantastic 60% discount, negotiated by E2BN, is coming to an end in December of this year. Remember, Infomapper is only £80 pa (Primary Schools) and £240 pa (Secondary Schools) and is eligible for elcs. What is Infomapper? It is a cross-curricular tool that is accessed over the Internet. It works best over a broadband connection and provides schools with UK Ordnance Survey maps, UK Aerial photography and World Maps. Tools are provided that allow you to create web pages, then link them to the maps and to share these learning resources electronically. With Infomapper you can: ? Create digital learning resources. ? Present your resources in class. ? Publish resources. ? Create learning communities. ? Use the digital learning resources created by other teachers. References: InfoMapper is referred to on the Teachernet website as an exemplar of good broadband practice, see attached report.
A recent school Ofsted report referred to InfoMapper with the following words (reproduced with the permission of the Headteacher): 'Example of outstanding practice: Precise planning, clear objectives and good SEN support lead to very effective learning for all pupils.' Any licenses that are taken up before 31st December 2006, will benefit from additional InfoMapper functionality that will be available in the new version to be launched at BETT 2007 and include the following: ? Will require no ActiveX plug-in and will work cross-platform. ? Will include Thematic Mapping. ? Will include, without charge, any local mapping (e.g. detailed aerial images) for which the Authority holds the appropriate license covering schools. ? Will have an all-new interface that displays both maps and resources on a single highly intuitive screen ensuring it is usable by those with even the most basic ICT skills. ? Will provide the functionality to include assessment and manage responses. ? Will include OS data for the whole of England, Scotland and Wales. ? Will include street-level mapping for the whole of Europe (non-OS data that can therefore be accessed outside school and by the Chinese pupils). ? Will use intuitive drag-and-drop resource management. ? Will include 'web services' giving it the ability to draw enormous amounts of data directly from the web into dynamic mapping layers. ? Will have its Resource Library publicly accessible (i.e. outside the login) so that everybody will be able to see your resources whether they are registered InfoMapper users or not. ? Because pages of information and their associated mapping can be linked together into 'projects' these can form complete lessons or courses, and can include questions and the assessment of responses.
