Safer Internet Day 2012

Build A Buddy For SID
New to Roar Educate's cyber-safeguarding suite of modules is
Build a Buddie that includes
online activity-based learning plus a fun reward system where pupils can build
and customise a ‘buddie' to personify good e-security practice and online
conduct.
Build a Buddie was developed
for pupils at KS2. It contains eight learning interactives, plus an offline
survey for children to complete at home. The module provides essential learning
about cyber-security, and contains supporting resources for teachers.
Build a Buddie is delivered
online or can be uploaded to a schools Learning Platform if required.
Roar Educate's cyber-safeguarding suite of modules is the most comprehensive
suite of resources in this important new field of education... preparing
children and young people for a digital future.
E2BN has negotiated a free trial period for all schools. To try Build a Buddie, just go to demos.e2bn.org/buddie-demo/
If you would like to see the full range of Roar Educate's cyber-safeguarding
modules and receive your E2BN discount go to: www.roareducate.com/uk/e2bn
Radio Jingle
competition for Schools
All schools are welcome to produce
a short single for the Safer Internet Radio Show, which will be running all day
on 7th February. The jingles should promote both SID and also be
linked to the theme "Connecting Generations". We will play as many jingles as
possible throughout the day, and the winning School will win an Ipod! Entries need
to be submitted by Friday 3rd February please.
Safer Internet Radio show
The show will broadcast from 9am
until 9pm, with many amazing guest speakers including Sir Richard Allan
(Facebook), Sonia Livingstone (EU Kids Online), and John Carr (National
Charities Coalition), as well as Schools themselves. A new addition this year
is the Eurovision hour, highlighting internet safety news from our Sister
Centres across Europe.

Engagelive

We
will be running the SID events throughout February (and into March) so any
school that cannot do the 7th will have plenty of alternatives.
Teachers
already registered as users can sign themselves up to the events listed in the
Teachers area, and newcomers can register there as well, otherwise they can
e-mail us at info@engagelive.net.
Places
are filling up already and we expect this SID to be the biggest yet, and we
have a great new addition to our team of online experts from various parts of
the industry.
Any E2BN
school is welcome to sign up and take part. The cost is £30 per class + VAT
with discounts for more than 4 classes in any one school.
