Children in the Essex area are learning more about policing thanks to a museum curator with a passion for education. Becky Wash, based at Essex Police Museum, has been commended for her work with schools.

E2BN have presented her with a certificate of commendation for the ‘excellent resources' she uses to teach youngsters about the history of policing in Essex. Becky has been collecting photographs, film clips and soundtracks about the force since January.
She is finding that children are enjoying learning about various aspects of policing, including, uniforms, transport, the dog unit and women in policing.

Becky has worked at the museum for four years and has greatly increased the number of visitors to the museum. The E2BN resources she provides can be used by teachers and pupils in the classroom as part of National Curriculum studies for subjects such as Victorian Crime and Punishment and World War Two.

They are also used as preparation for or follow-up to a visit to the museum, which is based at Essex Police HQ in Springfield. Schools can arrange a visit to Essex Police Museum. Call Becky on 01245 457150 or e-mail her becky.wash@essex.pnn.police.uk if you would like to visit the museum.
