Three ex-Biddenham students were invited to St James's Palace to meet the Duke of Edinburgh and receive their Gold Awards . Clare Anderson, Sophie Hallett and Ruth Whitmore are the first three Biddenham students who have managed to complete all sections of the Award since it began at the school three years ago. This was a huge commitment of their time during sixth form and a massive achievement.

To achieve this award the students have to spend 12 months on a volunteering section. The Physical and Skills section is covered by 12 months on one and 6 months on the other. The difference for the Gold Award is that the students also do a residential section by staying away for four nights doing a shared activity with people they don't know.
